Labor Department Divisions &
Units
The Department of
Labor is divided into units which provide services direct to the public
or in support of other divisions which provide services. You may access
information from these divisions by clicking on the specific division
title below.
Administration
This division provides
administrative support and handles the business functions of the Agency.
Areas of responsibility include communications, finance and accounting,
human resources, purchasing, research, agency legal services,
legislative affairs and constituent services,
information technology
and data processing services, mail and reception. A representative of
the administration is assigned to the Tulsa office. This individual
represents the Commissioner of Labor in the northeastern part of the
state. The Tulsa office also has staff members representing most Labor
Department divisions
Asbestos
Division
This division is
responsible for ensuring asbestos abatement projects are accomplished safely and
in accordance with the law. This division also administers an Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) grant program
to manage asbestos hazards in schools.
Child Labor Unit
This unit is responsible for
enforcement of Oklahoma's
Child
Labor statutes.
Licensing
Unit
This unit handles licensing for private employment agencies (where fees are paid by the
employee rather than the employer), persons who conduct activities relating to
asbestos, and most welders, weld test facilities and weld inspectors.
PEOSH
Unit
The Public
Employee Occupational Safety & Health (PEOSH) Unit provides consultation
and enforcement services to public sector employers to protect public employees
from workplace accidents and injuries.

Safety Pays®
Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA)
Consultation Division provides free, confidential, voluntary and non-punitive
safety and health consultation services to private sector employers in the
state. Employers must request this service and invite the Consultation
program into their workplace.
Safety
Standards Division
The Safety Standards
Division is staffed with inspectors located geographically
around the state. This division regulates the installation, operation and
maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels, hot water heaters and amusement rides.
The division also regulates welding practices. Safety Standard's mission is to help
ensure the safety of both our workforce and the general public.
Statistical
Research Analysis Unit
The Statistical Research
Analysis Unit is responsible for conducting occupational safety and
health surveys in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau
of Labor Statistics. Incident and research information is provided to
assist safety officials with their safety programs.
Wage
& Hour Unit
This
unit is
responsible for processing all wage claims under the Labor Department's jurisdiction.
Workers'
Compensation Enforcement Unit
This unit ensures that all employers comply with the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Act by
providing appropriate coverage for their employees. Labor Compliance
Officers provide employers with copies of the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Act
and are responsible for citing employers found to be in non-compliance with the
Act.
